About Me

Hello! I'm Serena, also known as "Kittie Kitsuneko"!

The name “Kittie Kitsuneko” reflects my love of cats and foxes and my deep respect and continued learning about Japanese culture. I currently speak conversational Japanese and fluent French for those who are curious.
I began my creative journey in 1999, selling art through early online platforms and later expanding into conventions, eBay, and commissioned work.
In 2018, I returned to school to pursue a dual Associate’s Degree in IT Mobile Application Development and Web/Software Development (with specific classes in Business and Social Media), graduating in Spring 2020. Since then, I’ve continued to grow my skills through personal and professional projects.
As of October 1, 2023, I began my role as Community Manager “Fenneko” for Ultima Online at Broadsword Online Games, where you may have seen me on official YouTube and Twitch streams.
For inquiries, please see my contact page or LinkedIn. Some common questions are already answered in the FAQ. Thank you!

FAQ

I see you work for a video game company, can I get free stuff?

No. That's the simple answer.

Did you ever play the game you work for, and for how long?

Yes, I have been playing Ultima Online since 1999. So it was a dream come true when the game I work for was able to hire me! I first started as an Event Moderator for the game, better known as "EM Artemis". From there, I was able to expand, learn, and grow while I went to school to get my degree so I could ultimately get the job I have today!

What does a Community Manager even DO?

I'm not entirely knowledgeable in what *other* companies require of their CMs, but I can tell you what *I* do.

• Posting to Social Media Outlets all Publishes.
• Posting to Social Media Outlets all New Information about the Product.
• Managing and reporting all information demographics of the Social Media Outlets to the team in a timely manner.
• Creation and Posting to all Social Media Outlets various contests, news and other player engagement posts.
• Posting to all Social Media Outlets any information from various event services.
• Supporting the Development team with publishing key information about the game when appropriate.
• Posting to Social Media Outlets to support the Event Moderator team information and events when appropriate.
• Assisting QA in investigating bugs reported by players and reporting them to the appropriate team members.
• Support the team as the public voice for the product through all Social Media Outlets as well as live streams to feature the product and support it's content.
• Prepare health and engagement reports on a regular basis for the product.
• Prepare documents for future projects and ideas for the product.

These are just some of *my* main duties as a CM.

How did you come up with the name Fenneko, and how does she fit into UO?

Fenneko is based on the Bake Kitsune in UO. Her name comes from the "Fennec" fox (Because I adore foxes) and the Japanese word for cat (Neko), hence the blend of the 2 words Fen+Neko. Since lore suggests that they can transform from human to fox (and anything in between), I just employed that. I wear the ears for the main streams, and we have the anime Fenneko for the Japanese streams. When we do important streams, however, the ears are not worn to separate the more serious and informative streams from the "play with me" styled ones.

Can I hire you for a project I'm working on?

I'm sorry, no. I love my job dearly. I also tend to work nearly 24/7. I consistently monitor all the social media platforms for the game. So I have NO time to do anything else (and truthfully, I wouldn't have it any other way!).

I want to send you something I made.

For the moment, the only kind of gifts I am accepting is fan art. If you are an artist and wish to send me something, please be sure to contact me using the form at the bottom of the page. Just be sure to mention in your initial post that you wish to send me fan art. I will reply then via my email, so you can do so. I will be getting a P.O. Box soon for those who wish to send me more physical art pieces.

You used to personally do Twitch/YouTube and Art, what happened?

I stopped taking any kind of commissions due to time constraints. My Twitch streams have been postponed indefinitely, and my YouTube posts are done whenever I feel the need to do so.

Will you be engaging more on your personal social media platforms?

The easy answer is yes, but nothing ever is easy. I post whenever I feel the need to, and generally it's nothing "exciting" per se. I don't generally post where I am either at the time of my posting, for obvious reasons. I have been asked to bring back my vlog, but oftentimes I am not doing anything "spectacular" that I feel the need to post about. But if that IS something of interest, I can look into it.

I see you wearing ears, are you a furry?

The number of times I get asked this is staggering, but I do feel the need to answer this. The answer is no. I am not. I have nothing against people who wish to dress up as animals; I simply am not one of them. Growing up, I saw anime that had cat-girls as main characters (Dominion Tank Police, Tokyo Mew Mew, Di Gi Charat...), and simply thought it was adorable. Wearing cat ears to me seemed more of a nod to the Anime genre than the Furry one. I can see how some people would jump to the assumption, but it is nothing more than admiration for all the anime I love (and just a fun thing to do in general!).

You have several characters with fan art. Who are they?

• Fenneko is my persona as the community manager for Ultima Online.
• The 2nd is "Kittie Kitsuneko", which is more a personal character than anything (and a WIP). She is more like "Shampoo" from "Ranma 1/2". I tend to use her in DnD campaigns and other fun RPG-style tabletop games when permitted (Since she can go from cat-girl to cat, she makes for a great character to use going into tight spaces or trying to stay inconspicuous).
• Then there is "Kittie Pink", who is just a fun cat-girl I created. At the time, I enjoyed the movie "Moulin Rouge", so that is what she primarily would dress up in.
• Finally, "Scully Fremont" was part of an anime-inspired comedy comic/manga I did *many* years ago about a 4-tailed bumbling Kitsune who was just trying to make it in modern times and earn her 9 tails.

I saw you at _____! Do you mind if people approach you?

Please come say hello! I don't bite! I love meeting new people and always love meeting people who share the same things I am passionate about! Just please be respectful, that's all I ask.
